Burnley to win to nil

Scott Parker’s Burnley side drew 1-1 at Hull in midweek, which stretched their unbeaten run, but saw them lose ground in the Championship title race, with the leaders Sunderland winning at Luton.

The Clarets will therefore be keen to get back to winning ways against a QPR team that could only draw 1-1 on Tuesday with Coventry, who are also currently in the drop zone.

Team news

Scott Parker has a number of first team players unavailable for this contest.

Burnley have a lengthy injury list, with Joe Worrall, Jordan Beyer, Hjalmar Ekdal, Hannes Delcroix, Aaron Ramsey, Mike Tresor, Manuel Benson and Lyle Foster all unavailable against QPR.

Nathan Redmond is back in training, but this match looks likely to come too soon for the winger to return.

Liam Morrison and Jack Colback are both definitely out for QPR, while Kenneth Paal, Rayan Kolli and Michael Frey are all doubts.

The stats

Only Sunderland have beaten Burnley in the Championship this season, with the Clarets winning six and drawing four of their 11 outings.

QPR are without a win from their last eight matches across all competitions, drawing three and losing five times.

Publicidad

Burnley have kept clean sheets in four of their last five games and have only conceded twice at Turf Moor all season.

QPR have lost both of their last two away matches, failing to score in either of them.

Prediction

Burnley’s recent spate of draws has seen Sunderland build a three-point advantage and Leeds move level with them on points, so a victory against QPR would be welcomed.

Hull City went ahead against them through Xavier Simons goal, when they met on Wednesday, which was the first time that the Clarets had conceded after four games in which they had kept clean sheets.

It is a good job that Burnley are not conceding many, because they are struggling to find the net, with nine of their 17 goals in the Championship having been scored in their first two games.

Though QPR moved off the bottom of the Championship table with their draw against Coventry, the pressure is still on manager Marti Cifuentes and his team, who have not won a match since August.

The best that the Londoners can realistically expect from this tough trip to a stingy Burnley side is another draw, but with the hosts looking unlikely to concede, they should secure a win.
