Over 3.5 goals

Only two points separate Bournemouth and Tottenham in the Premier League table and the pair could play out a high-intensity match at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday night.

Justin Kluivert became the first player in Premier League history to net a hat-trick of penalties in Bournemouth's 4-2 win over Wolves on Saturday, while Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by London rivals Fulham a day later.

Spurs are a hard team to pin down this season, having lost to Ipswich and beaten Manchester City either side of the last international break, and their clash with Bournemouth is another tough one to call.

The Cherries were impressive in their win over Wolves but had lost successive games against Brentford and Brighton beforehand.

Team news

Bournemouth are boosted by the potential returns of Antoine Semenyo and Lewis Cook, although Luis Sinisterra, Alex Scott and Julian Araujo remain sidelined.

Illness ruled Dominic Solanke out of Tottenham's clash with Fulham but he should return to face his former club.

Mickey van de Ven remains sidelined along with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The stats

Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham have been inconsistent in many ways but not scoring goals as they lead the league with 28

Bournemouth have lost only two of their six home fixtures in the Premier League this season.

Publicidad

Tottenham's league fixtures have averaged 3.23 goals per game this term, while Bournemouth's have averaged three goals per game exactly.

Both teams have scored in nine of Bournemouth's 13 matches in the top flight.

Justin Kluivert, Antoine Semenyo and Evanilson have scored 13 league goals between them this campaign.

Prediction

Tottenham have won just one of their last five contests in all competitions and customers may be tempted to support Bournemouth on the south coast but goals could instead be the way to go.

Both of these sides play a similar style of football, operating on the front foot and looking to win the ball high up the pitch.

Indeed, Tottenham have applied the most pressures to opponents in the final third (911) in the league this season and Bournemouth (831) are just behind them in that metric.

That points to what should be a pretty lively, end-to-end match and plenty of goals should make an appeal on the south coast.

The 26 league fixtures involving either Tottenham or Bournemouth this season have produced a total of 81 goals, while three of Tottenham's last five matches have featured at least four strikes.

The returns of Antoine Semenyo for the Cherries and Dominic Solanke for Spurs also enhance the chances of a high-scoring game with over 3.5 goals the way to go.
