Blackburn to win

Blackburn have played themselves back into the promotion picture in the Championship with an impressive five-game winning run and they can secure another important three points by seeing off Luton at Ewood Park on Saturday.

The Hatters are just five points clear of the bottom three after struggling to adapt to life back to the Championship following relegation from the Premier League and it could be another awkward afternoon for Rob Edwards' side in the second tier.

Team news

Blackburn are still expected to be without Balazs Toth, Arnor Sigurdsson and Zak Gilsenan for Saturday, while Harry Pickering, Andreas Weimann, Hayden Carter and Scott Wharton are all also absent.

Luton's injury list is lengthy, too, with Amarii Bell joining Shandon Baptiste, Liam Walsh, Reece Burke, Alfie Doughty and Reuell Walters on the sidelines, while Teden Mengi remains out long term.

The stats

Rob Edwards' Luton have had a difficult season back in the Championship

Blackburn have won their last four games 1-0.

Rovers have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven home league matches.

Luton have lost their last six away games in the Championship.

Only Plymouth, with 27, have conceded more away goals in the division than Luton's tally of 21.

Prediction

After saving Blackburn from relegation at the end of last season, Eustace has continued to receive plaudits this term as the former Birmingham boss has guided his side into the top six in the Championship.

Publicidad

Rovers are being talked about as potential promotion candidates after a run of five straight victories, which includes eye-catching successes over Leeds and Middlesbrough, although they have had to dig in to achieve the results, with their last four all being 1-0 wins.

The competitive nature of the second tier means that even though Blackburn, before Wednesday's games, were seven points off the top, they are also only eight points ahead of 12th-placed Sheffield Wednesday in the standings.

Rovers should continue to look up rather than down, though, as the busy Christmas and New Year period approaches and a sixth win in a row looks likely when they face Luton.

The visitors have won just six of their 20 games so far this season following relegation and have been awful away from home, in particular, losing seven of nine on the road, including each of their last six.
