Arsenal remain firmly in the hunt for the Premier League title, but they have failed to win in back-to-back games for only the second time this season and will be looking to get back on track.

They have been extremely strong at home, however, so will have high hopes of putting last week's 1-0 away loss at Aston Villa behind them when they tackle Brighton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Seagulls secured their progress to the last 16 of the Europa League as group winners on Thursday and remain in the hunt for the European places again this season.

They have lost only one of their last eight matches in all competitions, but the defeat came on their most recent visit to London when they lost 3-2 to Chelsea.

Team news

Arsenal will be without defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who has a hamstring injury.

However, Gabriel Martinelli should be available after illness and Emile Smith Rowe is also back in contention. Fabio Vieira, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey are still out.

Solly March, Ansu Fati, Tariq Lamptey, Pervis Estupinan and Julio Enciso are all still unavailable for Brighton.

Evan Ferguson, Carlos Baleba and Bart Verbruggen are options to return to the starting line-up for Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi.

The stats

Arsenal have not gone three games without a win all season – the Gunners have six wins in their last eight games, despite a loss and a draw in their last two outings.

Publicidad

Arsenal have won with both teams scoring in their last two home Premier League games, while five of the Gunners' last seven home league games have produced over 3.5 goals.

No Premier League team have played more games featuring four or more goals this season than Brighton and the Seagulls have found the net at least once in their last 15 games.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi still has a number of players unavailable for selection due to injury

Prediction

Brighton have the quality in their squad to provide a real test for any Premier League opponents, but they are not helped by their schedule this week and could come off second-best against a fresher Arsenal squad.

The Gunners were under no pressure in their final Champions League group game at PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday and took the chance to mix in some fringe players as they played out a 1-1 draw to win their group.

Brighton did not play until 48 hours later on Thursday and, while they secured an excellent 1-0 win over Marseille to top their Europa League group, it has put them at a disadvantage in terms of preparation for this match.

Arsenal have won six in a row at the Emirates Stadium, where they have not lost this season, and they have a great chance to extend that record.

Brighton have impressively scored at least once in their last 15 games and may well get on the scoresheet again even if their Sunday trip to London ends in defeat.

Arsenal conceded goals to Wolves and Burnley in their last two home league wins.
