Crawley substitute Armando Quitirna converted a late penalty to deny Stockport a fourth win in five league games in a 1-1 draw at the Broadfield Stadium.

The in-form Louie Barry drove County ahead after only six minutes, but Crawley improved as the game wore on and midfielder Quitirna kept his cool with the spot-kick as the Red Devils ended a run of two successive defeats.

Barry, fresh from being named League One player of the month for August, gave Stockport the lead early on with his fifth goal in six games.

The Aston Villa loanee cut in from the left before letting fly with a low shot which gave goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott no chance.

Panutche Camara provided Crawley’s early threat and after putting an angled effort over he was off target from the edge of the area.

The Red Devils had a let-off shortly before the break when Josh Flint gave the ball away and Barry burst through, blazing his shot narrowly wide.

The industrious Barry was involved again shortly after the break when he played in Ollie Norwood, who fired wide from the edge of the area.

Midfielder Callum Camps was inches away from doubling County’s lead when he shot just wide from a cross by Tayo Adaramola.

But Crawley drew level after 68 minutes when Kyle Wootton pushed Quitirna in the area and the substitute stepped up to send former Crawley keeper Corey Addai the wrong way from the spot.
