William Haggas is hoping to run Addeybb at Goodwood on Wednesday after deciding against sending the Champion Stakes winner to either Ayr or Newbury this weekend.

Addeybb has been waiting for his next outing after finishing second behind St Mark's Basilica in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown in July and held entries for Ayr and Newbury on Saturday as Haggas weighed up his options.

But with conditions unlikely to suit at either venue, Haggas has said the Foundation Stakes at Goodwood on Wednesday is now his preferred destination as he builds up to QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot next month.

Addeybb won the Listed Doonside Cup Stakes at Ayr a year ago before impressively sealing the Champion Stakes at Ascot last October — but he will not take the same route this year.

Haggas said: "The ground wasn't soft enough for Addeybb this weekend but he needs a run, so we've put him in at Goodwood on Wednesday.

"He'll almost nearly have to run there but I didn't want to flog him up to Ayr when the forecast I saw said the rain, which they thought was coming on Friday, has dissipated now.

"It's a shame but Goodwood will be fine, hopefully. They are due some rain at the weekend, and I'm hoping they get plenty."

Addeybb is expected to face plenty of tough opposition in this year's Champion Stakes with another battle against St Mark's Basilica on the cards, while the likes of Mishriff, Snowfall and Adayar could all be in the mix on the day.

Meanwhile, Haggas is also hoping the unbeaten Baaeed will run on Champions Day on October 16, with a crack at the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes his target.

Baaeed made it five wins from five when taking the Prix du Moulin at ParisLongchamp earlier this month — and the trainer says he has been fine since that victory.

The three-year-old is likely to go to Ascot, as long as the conditions next month suit.

Haggas added: "Baaeed is in good shape and aiming for the QEII. We're planning to run at Ascot but if it's bottomless, we may have to think again.

"He's been fine since the race and I think that race will have done him good. I'm happy with him."
