Japan's Hinata Miyazawa currently leads the Women's World Cup Golden Boot race with five goals.

Yet finalists England and Spain have players who could overtake her, as do third-place contenders Australia and Sweden.

Ahead of the exciting weekend of international action, we look at the chances of the main Golden Boot contenders.

Hinata Miyazawa — Japan (five goals, one assist)

Japanese midfielder Miyazawa had only scored four goals in 23 international appearances prior to the tournament.

She unexpectedly scored five times at this World Cup, with four coming in the group stage and one in the last 16 win over Norway.

Amanda Ilestedt — Sweden (four goals)

Miyazawa's nearest rival was considered an even less likely Golden Boot winner prior to the tournament.

Arsenal centre-back Amanda Ilestedt netted three times in the group stage and then bagged a fourth in the quarter-final win over Japan.

Hayley Raso — Australia (three goals)

Australia star Hayley Raso found the net twice in the group stage against Canada and then again in the round of 16 victory over Denmark.

The recent Real Madrid signing is not known as a prolific scorer. Last season at Manchester City, she only scored five times in 25 games.

Rebecka Blomqvist — Sweden (three goals)

Rebecka Blomqvist endured the heartbreak of seeing her 88th minute equaliser against Spain in the semi-finals get a near instant response from La Roja, reducing Sweden to a battle for third.

The Wolfsburg forward had previously scored in the group stage wins over Italy and Argentina.

Aitana Bonmati — Spain Bonmati (three goals, two assists)

Aitana Bonmati is a midfielder with an eye for goal, with three strikes in this tournament increasing her total for Spain to 19 in 53 appearances.

Her goal against Costa Rica and brace in the round of 16 against Switzerland followed another successful season at Barcelona.

Lauren James — England (three goals, three assists)

Lauren James has looked sensational at times for England but her sending off against Nigeria in the last 16 saw her suspended for the next two games.

She is available again for the final and, if selected, will be looking to add to the goals she scored against Denmark and China.

Jenni Hermoso — Spain (three goals, two assists)

Jenni Hermoso, 33, is not just Spain's all-time top scorer with 51 goals but also the record holder at her former club Barcelona.

She scored twice against Zambia in the group stage and then again in the win over Switzerland.

Lauren Hemp — England (three goals, one assist)

Manchester City forward Lauren Hemp has been at her industrious best since England switched to a 3-5-2 formation, which saw her used as part of a strike duo.

Hemp scored her first against China, followed by goals against Colombia in the quarter-final and Australia in the semis.

Alba Redondo — Spain (three goals, one assist)

Winger Alba Redondo has a strong scoring record for her country, finding the net 14 times in 31 games.

Two of those goals came against Zambia in the group stage before another in the round of 16 battle with Switzerland.

Alessia Russo — England (three goals)

Arsenal forward Alessia Russo has been preferred to rival Rachel Daly as England's main striker and has not disappointed.

She opened the scoring against China and has then added to her tally with strikes against Colombia and Australia.
