West Ham vs Wolves predictions: Capital clash should be full of goals
- Wolves' Premier League games have averaged 4.14 goals per game so far this season
- West Ham have conceded eight goals in their last two fixtures
- Recommended bet: Over 3.5 goals
Consistency has been a problem for both West Ham and Wolves in the Premier League this season with both sides in the lower echelons of the standings as the season's halfway mark approaches.
The Hammers are at least out of the relegation zone but pressure is mounting on manager Julen Lopetegui, whose future was discussed by senior figures at the club following their 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on Tuesday.
Gary O'Neil is another manager who is hanging by a thread with his Wolves team having gone into the weekend in 19th spot with just two wins from their opening 14 contests.
And in what is a crucial matchup for managers of both sides, goals could well be on the cards when West Ham take on Wolves at the London Stadium on Monday night.
Team news
West Ham will be without Michail Antonio after his involvement in a road traffic accident, while defender Jean-Clair Todibo is still dealing with an adductor issue and is also set to miss out.
Wolves will welcome back defender Nelson Semedo from suspension but Pablo Sarabia is a doubt and Sasa Kalajdzic, Yerson Mosquera and Boubacar Traore are all sidelined.
The stats
These sides have conceded a combined 63 goals in 28 Premier League matches this campaign.
Wolves have been involved in some high-scoring battles and their league fixtures are averaging 4.14 goals per game.
And both teams have scored in 11 of the Midlands club's 14 league assignments.
West Ham have picked up just one win in their last five games, losing their last two matches 5-2 against Arsenal and 3-1 against Leicester.
Prediction
Monday night's Premier League battle between West Ham and Wolves has been dubbed 'El Sackico' and for good reason.
Defeat for either Julen Lopetegui or Gary O'Neil could bring an end to their respective tenures and neither team is expected to go down without a fight.
On their days, both of these teams can excel. West Ham thrashed Ipswich 4-1 and beat Manchester United 2-1 in October, while they also secured a rare win away to Newcastle last month.
Wolves, meanwhile, ran out 4-1 winners away to Fulham just a couple of weeks ago and have class in their attack with Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen impressing up top this term.
But consistency has been a problem for both teams and the result is worth swerving at the London Stadium.
Instead, goals looks the way to go with Wolves having been involved in some crackers this term.
Indeed, five of their last eight matches have produced over 3.5 goals, which could be the best bet in London.
They can both dazzle in attack but are far too leaky at the back — something which was perfectly conveyed in West Ham's last home game, which they lost 5-2 to Arsenal.
The Gunners were 4-0 up after just 36 minutes in that game but the Hammers hit back to make it 4-2, only for Bukayo Saka's penalty to put Arsenal beyond reach.
