Walsall pulled six points clear at the top of League Two courtesy of a routine of 2-0 victory at struggling Harrogate.

Nathan Lowe and Albert Adomah struck in each half to earn the Saddlers all three points in a game played in awful conditions as swirling winds swept across Wetherby Road.

On-loan Stoke forward Lowe netted his 10th league goal of the season to break the deadlock in the 34th minute, fizzing a low strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards out after dispossessing Stephen Dooley.

Harrogate striker Josh March was then controversially sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the space of three minutes.

With the wind at their backs, Walsall completely dominated the second period.

Charlie Lakin forced a superb save from James Belshaw before Adomah’s neat close-range finish made the game safe in the 69th minute.

Belshaw then produced another good stop to deny Liam Gordon late on, while at the other end, Matty Daly forced visiting goalkeeper Tommy Simkin into his first meaningful save in the final minute of stoppage time.
