Second-half goals from Jamille Matt and Nathan Lowe saw runaway League Two leaders Walsall come from behind to win 2-1 at Notts County.

Alassana Jatta gave County a first-half lead, but Matt levelled in the 65th minute before Lowe struck the winner with eight minutes left.

The victory was Walsall’s seventh straight win in the league and kept them 12 points clear at the top of the table.

Notts County started the day in third but their first defeat in four saw them drop to seventh.

Jatta was denied an early opener when he rounded goalkeeper Tommy Simkin and rolled the ball towards the net, only for Evan Weir to brilliantly get back to clear.

But the Gambia forward made no mistake in the 26th minute when he finished clinically after being teed up by Josh Martin.

The equaliser came 20 minutes into the second half when Matt headed home after Weir volleyed the ball across goal.

Liam Gordon missed a great chance to put the Saddlers ahead but they were not to be denied as Lowe slid home in the 82nd minute.

David McGoldrick had a late effort ruled out as County were unable to find an equaliser.
