Transfer Talk: Pep wants Kroos as new midfield general
Manchester City have reportedly sounded out Real Madrid star Toni Kroos about a move next summer.
Kroos, 32, has less than a year remaining on his deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and rejected the last contract offered to him by Real.
While the European champions are keen to keep their midfield maestro, El Nacional say they will not break the bank for the German.
And they also believe that Pep Guardiola has been given the go-ahead by the City board to move for Kroos.
He has been a long-term admirer of the 106-cap international, failing in a move to bring him to the Etihad a number of years ago.
Now Guardiola reckons that adding an experienced central midfielder to his squad would take it to the next level.
But it is not yet clear whether Kroos will choose to end what would be a nine-year association with Real.
He has made 370 appearances for Los Blancos, winning three LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues.
