Real Madrid have identified Chelsea captain Reece James as a long-term successor to Dani Carvajal.

Spain international Carvajal turns 32 in January and Real know they will need to find a replacement sooner rather than later.

According to Spanish outlet AS, 23-year-old James is seen as the ideal candidate to step into his role after rising to become one of the Premier League's finest right-backs at Stamford Bridge.

Any agreement will not be cheap for Los Blancos however, with the England international signing a six-year deal in West London last year.

Though a bid is unlikely to come until next summer at the earliest, the report indicates James is firmly the right-back they want.

Lingard weighing up options

Jesse Lingard is continuing to train with former employers West Ham but has received offers from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Major League Soccer clubs, according to 90min.

The 30-year-old has been working on his fitness in East London, with the possibility of a short-term contract with the Hammers thought to be on the table.

With the former Manchester United midfielder a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest, he is able to sign with the Irons at any point but he is also weighing up propositions from abroad.
