Romelu Lukaku is desperate to return to Inter Milan and trying to push through a summer transfer.

The £97.5million striker's second spell at Chelsea has not gone to plan with just five goals in 18 Premier League games and Calciomercato claim he is attempting to secure a move "at all costs".

Belgian international Lukaku, 28, upset fans in an interview released in December in which he insisted he was "not happy" with how he was being used tactically and professed his love for Inter.

He apologised in January but the damage had already been done and with Kai Havertz now Thomas Tuchel's preferred option to lead the line, things are not going well on or off the field.

There are significant obstacles to a summer switch, however, with uncertainty surrounding Chelsea's ability to sell players after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK Government over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Abramovich has been disqualified as a director by the Premier League, who would have to clear any moves.

In addition, Inter are unlikely to be able to finance a permanent switch and would have to try and persuade the Blues to come to an agreement over an initial loan.

Chelsea's predicament has not ended speculation over summer incomings at Stamford Bridge as the Mirror believe they are keen to make Saul Niguez's loan deal permanent.
