Transfer Talk: Bayern become latest elite club to join race for Pogba
Bayern Munich are the latest European giant to be linked with soon-to-be free agent Paul Pogba.
The 29-year-old is poised to leave Manchester United when his contract expires this summer, opening the door to a move elsewhere.
Pogba has struggled to impress since his then world-record £89million return to the club from Juventus in 2016, making just 20 Premier League appearances this term.
The Red Devils No6 has been free to discuss moves with foreign clubs since January 1 and many are said to be battling it out for the Frenchman's signature.
Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and former side Juventus have been named as his most likely destinations, while Manchester City have also been linked with a shock swoop.
And Spanish outlet Fichajes say Bundesliga champions Bayern have now thrown their name into the mix.
Pogba is said to be favouring a fresh challenge abroad and a switch to the Bavarians, who have just claimed their 10th-straight Bundesliga title, could be a tempting offer.
United are already looking for Pogba’s replacement, with Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong said to be top of the list.
The Dutchman thrived under incoming Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax and is being named as their prime midfield target.
The Mail report that Barca have slapped a £70m price tag on the 25-year-old, with the cash-strapped club eager to raise funds.
The Netherlands international is said to be keen on staying at the Camp Nou and if he does leave, would prefer a move to a team playing in the Champions League.
