Timo Werner is ready to call time on his Chelsea career this summer.

The 26-year-old forward arrived from RB Leipzig in June 2020 after the Blues shelled out £47.5million.

Having netted 28 goals in 34 Bundesliga games in his previous campaign, Werner was a man in demand with Stamford Bridge chiefs beating Liverpool and several other rivals to his signature.

However, his stint in England has not gone to plan with just seven Premier League goals to his name — and only one in 14 top-flight appearances this term.

According to German outlet Sport1, the player has been working with his adviser Volker Struth on a plan to "leave London" at the end of the campaign.

And Chelsea will reportedly not stand in his way providing their asking price of around £33m is met by any interested party.

Werner has found himself trialled in several positions by Thomas Tuchel including down both flanks, as part of a front two and as a solitary striker.

But he has been unable to recapture the form which has seen him net six goals in his last seven outings for Germany.

When asked about his contrasting fortunes last week, Werner told journalists in his homeland: "There are differences in the style of play between football at Chelsea and here.

"Maybe the one at the national team suits me better. Here, I always have scoring chances, I can score goals. I feel very comfortable here."

Borussia Dortmund are one club said to hold an interest in Werner but have no intention of matching the wage packet he currently picks up in West London.
