Manchester United are ready to take advantage of Tottenham’s interest in Dean Henderson to help lure Harry Kane to Old Trafford.

Henderson, 26, is set for crunch talks with the Red Devils about his long-term future this week, with the stopper having spent the current campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest.

United have the Cumbrian custodian tied down until 2025 but his increasing desire to play regularly and force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England XI means a departure this summer is a possibility.

Henderson is growing fed up of short-term fixes and would like to find a new permanent home, with Spurs one of several clubs interested.

ESPN claim the North Londoners are keen to replace the ageing Hugo Lloris, with the 36-year-old Frenchman having suffered with poor form and injury this term.

A move for Henderson — 10 years his junior — would make plenty of sense and Old Trafford chiefs believe that any deal would ease relations ahead of potential negotiations for Kane.

Spurs remain determined to hold on to their talisman but another trophyless season is sure to have given Three Lions skipper Kane plenty to consider.

The 29-year-old has previously made no secret of his desire to win silverware and Erik ten Hag would be thrilled to work with the marksman in Manchester.

However, whether or not United will be able to meet Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s asking price, which is thought to be north of £100million, remains to be seen.
