David de Gea won the 2022-23 Premier League Golden Glove but it may have been his last accolade as Manchester United's No1.

The Spaniard is still a capable shot-stopper but his game has increasingly been littered with errors in recent seasons.

Mistakes while passing out from the back, meanwhile, feel like the type that will most frustrate boss Erik ten Hag.

De Gea does not appear to be Ten Hag's type of keeper and United are likely to be on the hunt for a replacement this summer.

Diogo Costa (Porto)

Only three goalkeepers made more saves than Diogo Costa in the Champions League this season, two of whom played many more minutes.

And the Portugal No1 ranks second for completed passes, too — more than Ederson, Thibaut Courtois and Alex Meret in fewer matches.

His pass accuracy percentage is down on many of his rivals, though, while he passes long more often than average, which may not suit Ten Hag's desire to play short out of the back.

David Raya (Brentford)

Brentford have already signed Mark Flekken as David Raya's replacement, signalling to their rivals that they are open to offers for their No1.

Like Costa, Raya generally kicked long this season, though that could have been down to the Bees' style as much as the Spaniard's preference.

He did rank fourth for passes completed, however, and made more saves than any other Premier League stopper.

Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia)

United signed De Gea as a 20-year-old 12 years ago and could now replace him with another young goalkeeper from Spain.

Giorgi Mamardashvili, a Georgian international who plays for Valencia, is a big reason why his side were not relegated from LaLiga.

Valencia's goals against tally was seven fewer than their expected goals against, a decent indicator of a good goalkeeper, while his 6ft 6in frame is reflected in the fact that he ranked fifth for crosses claimed in the Spanish top flight.

Mike Maignan (AC Milan)

Mike Maignan was incredibly impressive in the Champions League this season, conceding six goals in his seven appearances as he helped AC Milan to the semi-finals.

His shot-stopping in the quarter-final victory over Napoli was particularly memorable and means he can now be considered among the best goalkeepers on the continent.

The Italian giants have replaced former stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma brilliantly, spending only a reported £13million to bring Frenchman Maignan to the San Siro in 2021.

Jordan Pickford (Everton)

Long gone are the days when Jordan Pickford was considered a liability.

The Wearsider was solid at yet another major tournament for England at last year's World Cup and was vital in Everton's narrow escape from relegation.

He made the third-most saves in the division this season and his low pass accuracy rate can certainly be put down to the fact that the Toffees did not want to play out with short passes from the back.
