Manchester United will step up their pursuit of long-term target Antoine Griezmann in January.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new forward in the upcoming winter window after Cristiano Ronaldo's departure.

Griezmann has been on their radar for some time and reports in France claim United will make a move next month after deciding against an approach last summer.

Atletico Madrid had been forced to limit the playmaker's time on the field this season due to the terms of his return from Barcelona but have since struck a deal with their LaLiga rivals.

Griezmann has thrived in a No10 role at the World Cup — linking France's midfield to a potent attacking trio of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Olivier Giroud.

Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba have both hailed his unselfish attitude and work-rate ahead of Sunday's final showdown with Argentina.

The 31-year-old's versatility would appeal to Erik ten Hag and offer the United boss greater options than a more traditional centre forward.

Netherlands star Cody Gakpo and Portugal sensation Goncalo Ramos are among the alternatives being touted for an Old Trafford switch.
