Transfer Talk: Bayern look to Raya as rebuild continues
Bayern Munich are looking at Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as a replacement for the outgoing Yann Sommer, according to Sky Sports.
Sommer, 34, is on the verge of joining Inter Milan after filling in for Manuel Neuer for a year after the German fractured the tibia and fibula in his right leg.
And 27-year-old Raya has been selected as a suitable replacement for the Swiss international and eventual heir to Neuer when he retires.
But the Bavarians have hit a stumbling block in negotiations for the stopper and seem unwilling to meet Brentford's £40million valuation.
Tottenham were previously interested in the Spanish keeper but pulled out of a deal after refusing to pay the Bees' asking price when Raya has just one year left on his current deal.
And with the Bundesliga champions keen to splash out on England skipper Harry Kane, they may find themselves short of funds in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Brentford have already brought in a new goalkeeper this summer in Mark Flekken and the Dutchman has been starting ahead of Raya in most pre-season matches.
So the West Londoners may be forced to lower their demands as we approach the new season to recoup the £11million they paid for the new addition.
