Transfer Talk: Man Utd consider big Muani move for Randal
Manchester United have reportedly opened talks to sign highly-rated striker Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Red Devils are keeping tabs on the France international in case their pursuit of Atalanta hitman Rasmus Hojlund, 20, fails.
United are believed to have agreed personal terms with the Danish centre forward but a fee has yet to be sorted with the Serie A outfit — and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race for his signature.
Football Insider claim that Old Trafford chiefs are therefore looking at alternatives and have already spoken with Kolo Muani's representatives.
However, Frankfurt value the 24-year-old at around £80million after his marvellous 2022-23 Bundesliga campaign — where he tallied 15 goals and 11 assists.
United are said to view that price tag as excessive and are looking to press ahead in their Hojlund chase, although he will not come cheap either.
When asked for an update on the young striker's future, Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini said: "I don't know, I honestly don't know.
"The market is unpredictable. I hope for €100m (£86m) for Atalanta. There are very strong players who are struggling to find a place and young players who have been targeted.
"As one of the young players, Hojlund is among the best, if not the best."
