Transfer Talk: Liverpool ready to hijack United's Antony move
Liverpool are ready to try and hijack Manchester United’s move for Ajax star Antony.
But neither of the Premier League giants are currently prepared to meet the Dutch side’s £59million asking price.
Jurgen Klopp has previously suggested that the Reds are unlikely to bring in any more players this summer.
Yet Football Insider say that they have made contact with Ajax over the Brazilian, 22, following his impressive form for the Eredivisie champions.
He scored 12 goals and set up a further 10 last term under Erik ten Hag as the Amsterdam outfit lifted the league title and reached the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Ten Hag has already signed left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, while a deal for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez has been agreed.
But it would be a bitter blow if Liverpool — United’s fiercest rivals — were able to secure the services of the hugely exciting South American talent.
Despite signing Darwin Nunez in June and Luis Diaz in January, the departures of Sadio Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino means attacking reinforcements are not out of the question at Anfield.
