The transfer window may have slammed shut but rumours are still rife as clubs make their plans for additions in the summer.

According to The Daily Mail, Manchester City are lining up a move for wantaway Leicester midfielder James Maddison.

The England international has been subject to much transfer speculation over the last 12 months, with interest from Newcastle and Manchester United dominating the headlines.

While the Foxes have managed to keep hold of their star player for another few months, the 26-year-old will be entering the final year of his contract in the summer.

Maddison has scored seven times in the Premier League this year and reports suggest that he could be a potential replacement for Bernardo Silva, who is linked with the exit door.

Ilkay Gundogan is another who could leave the Etihad and this would give Pep Guardiola a problem in midfield that needs addressing.

The report suggests that the champions have enquired about the availability of the one-cap international, with the East Midlands side wanting a substantial fee to release him.

City did not spend big in the January market but could look to rebuild their fragmented squad in the summer instead.
