Transfer Talk: Newcastle fend off Spurs and Chelsea interest in Saint-Maximin
Chelsea and Tottenham have both made enquiries about Newcastle trickster Allan Saint-Maximin.
But the Magpies would not sell the 25-year-old for anything less than £40million.
Saint-Maximin has lit up the Premier League with his dazzling skills over recent seasons.
His end product has sometimes been lacking, but that has not stopped interest from two of the top flight’s big spenders.
The Athletic say the London rivals, as well as numerous European clubs, have made contact with the Toon Army over his availability.
Eddie Howe is keen to keep the Frenchman at St James’ Park as he looks ahead to his first full season in charge.
Though he only netted five goals and set up a further five in 35 appearances last term, Howe believes he can turn Saint-Maximin into a real force.
The winger is keen to sign a new deal on Tyneside with improved wages following the club’s takeover last season.
