Manchester City have reportedly submitted a bid worth over £42.7million for Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.

The approach comes after midfield maestro Bernardo Silva signed an extension for the Premier League champions and defender Aymeric Laporte announced that he will be leaving to join Al-Nassr.

Pep Guardiola's side have already lost a number of key players this summer including winger Riyad Mahrez and former captain Ilkay Gundogan but are looking to rebuild their squad and have made shrewd additions in experienced midfielder Mateo Kovacic and defender Josko Gvardiol.

And now the Treble winners are moving for highly-rated Wolves midfielder Nunes, who shares the pitch with Silva for the Portugal national team.

The Guardian claim City have already agreed terms with the 24-year-old, who only signed for the West Midlands club a year ago.

Nunes made 34 Premier League appearances last term, netting only once and providing one assist but his play did catch the eye despite his paltry output in front of goal.

His versatility would make him a useful asset for Guardiola, who is plotting a fourth league title in a row.

For Wolves, the 11-cap international has played across the midfield and can even feature as winger if needed.
