Transfer Talk: Nuno eyes double swoop as Trippier fears for United switch
Nuno Espirito Santo is eyeing a double swoop as he looks to rejuvenate his Tottenham squad.
Spurs are reportedly closing in on a £47million move for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero.
The Times say the North Londoners are prepared to pay the second largest fee in their history to bring in the centre-back.
Romero, 23, impressed in his first season at Atalanta after moving on a two-year loan deal from Juventus last summer.
He made 42 appearances across all competitions as they finished third in Serie A and qualified for the Champions League again.
And he is unlikely to be the final new face through the door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the new campaign.
The same report suggests Nuno is preparing to raid former club Wolves for winger Adama Traore.
Wolves are prepared to let Traore, 25, go after three seasons at Molineux and Leeds have also been linked.
But the Midlands outfit would want a large fee for the Spaniard, who has struggled for consistency during his time in the Premier League.
Trippier concerns
England international Kieran Trippier fears Manchester United are being priced out of a move for him.
Atletico Madrid full-back Trippier, 30, wants to return to England and Old Trafford is his favoured destination.
But United feel the £30m Atleti want for the former Tottenham defender is far too much for a player entering the final 12 months of his contract.
Trippier was a key part of Diego Simeone’s LaLiga title-winning side last term and the Argentine knows how difficult replacing him will be.
The Spanish giants also have the option of extending his deal by 12 months, leaving Trippier in the lurch for now, according to The Star.
To make matters worse for the Three Lions star, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told fringe players must be shipped out before another move can be given the green light.
The Red Devils have already splashed more than £120m on Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, meaning the books need to be balanced.

Everton midfielder James Rodriguez is not in Rafael Benitez’s plans and will be allowed to leave if the club receive a bid that matches their valuation, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Sky Sports say West Ham may turn their attention to Fiorentina’s Serbia international Nikola Milenkovic if they continue to be met with resistance in their attempts to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.
Crystal Palace, Burnley and Watford are all interested in signing Ademola Lookman on loan from RB Leipzig, report The Sun.
