Liverpool are plotting an audacious move for Bayern Munich and Germany ace Jamal Musiala.

The attacking midfielder, 21, spent nearly a decade of his childhood in the academies of Southampton and Chelsea and even represented England up to Under-21 level before returning to his homeland in 2019.

Since arriving in Bavaria, Musiala has grown into one of world football's most exciting talents and is already a pivotal player for both club and country.

However, the Reds — alongside their domestic rivals Manchester City — have long been keen admirers and now intend to test the Bundesliga giants' resolve with a bid this summer.

Football Insider say Bayern have no intention of letting such an important player depart and any offer short of £100million will be rejected outright.

But with the popular Michael Edwards returning to Liverpool this summer to become the club's new CEO of Football, ambitious approaches appear on the cards.

For Reds owners Fenway Sports Group, capturing a young talent of Musiala's standing would be the perfect way to kick off the post-Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield.

The 25-cap international has notched 10 goals and six assists across all competitions this term despite Bayern currently trailing Bayer Leverkusen by 10 points in the Bundesliga title race.

Reports earlier this month suggested the youngster has turned down an extension with his current employers, further fueling speculation over his future.
