Manchester United have drawn up a four-man wish list of Bundesliga forwards.

A report in The Athletic says the Red Devils are considering bolstering their frontline with a shortlist that includes former Premier League stars Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Timo Werner.

Choupo-Moting's Bayern Munich team-mate and Germany legend Thomas Muller is also being considered alongside Stuttgart sensation Serhou Guirassy.

Cash is set to remain tight at Old Trafford during the January transfer window, with Jim Ratcliffe's 25% purchase of the club still yet to be ratified by the Premier League.

That makes a cheap deal or a short-term loan up top more likely, much like they did with Odion Ighalo in 2020-21 and Wout Weghorst last season.

Choupo-Moting and Muller, who are both 34, have been reliable goalscorers in the past but find themselves out of the limelight at Bayern due to the form of Harry Kane.

The Red Devils have also enquired with RB Leipzig about the cost of ex-Chelsea attacker Werner, who is struggling for game time and has been strongly linked with a return to England.

Guinean striker Guirassy is the most in-form name on the list, having scored an impressive 17 goals in 14 Bundesliga games this term.

The 27-year-old has a reported £15.2million release clause, which means United will have to make a sale before sanctioning that deal due to financial fair play constraints.
