Tottenham have secured both the Premier League Player and Manager of the Month awards for August after a fine start to the campaign.

James Maddison and Ange Postecoglou have been at the heart of the club's resurgence this season and helped Spurs scoop both gongs in the same month for the first time since Mauricio Pochettino and Heung-Min Son in 2017.

Maddison, 26, has been one of the signings of the summer but was quick to thank his team-mates when accepting his prize.

He said: "I've been nominated for the award a few times, so it's a nice feeling to actually win it.

"I'll give all the credit back to my team-mates because they've given me the platform, plus the manager and the club, to be able to go and perform.

"It's never easy as a new player at a new club in the Premier League, so if you'd have offered me this at the start of the season, I'd have bitten your hand off!

"So many big names, elite players in the past and currently have won this award so it's nice to be in that category. This award will sit nicely on the mantelpiece."

Postecoglou remains unbeaten in the league with Spurs having won three and drawn one of his opening four games in charge.

The award comes in the aftermath of the Greek-Australian being nominated for the Best FIFA Men's Coach 2023 alongside the likes of Pep Guardiola and Simone Inzaghi.

On the impact the boss has made, Maddison added: "It's a brilliant achievement for him in his first month as a Premier League manager.

"I'm sure he'll say it's all about the team but he's been brilliant with all the lads."
