The Premier League is notorious for late drama and spectacular comebacks.

Since its inception in 1992, England's top tier has produced some of the greatest matches in Europe.

We could provide an extensive list of miraculous conclusions to countless games over the years — but there are a select few that stand out above the rest.

1. Newcastle 4-4 Arsenal (2010-11)

St James' Park welcomed Arsenal in 2011 and the Newcastle players were perhaps a little too friendly as they found themselves 2-0 down after just three minutes.

Goals from Theo Walcott and Johan Djourou put the Gunners in a comfortable position before Robin van Persie netted a brace to put the visitors 4-0 up at half-time.

Abou Diaby was sent off for Arsenal early in the second half, which renewed the energy inside the stadium, as Joey Barton and Leon Best pulled two back for the hosts to make it 4-2.

Barton scored again to raise the roof on Tyneside as Newcastle found themselves only a goal down with less than 10 minutes to go.

In the 87th minute, a thunderous volley from Cheick Tiote completed a spectacular comeback for the Magpies.

2. Manchester City 3-2 QPR (2011-12)

In a close second comes a final day classic from 2012.

Manchester City were within touching distance of a first Premier League title when they took on relegation-haunted QPR.

Having taken the lead in the 39th minute, City found themselves 2-1 down as the game entered stoppage time, with Djibril Cisse and Jamie Mackie netting for the visitors — despite former Magpies midfielder Barton seeing red.

The title seem destined to stay at city rivals Manchester United until Edin Dzeko equalised in the second minute of added time.

Step forward Sergio Aguero to provide arguably the most famous Premier League moment.

Receiving a lay-off from Mario Balotelli, the Argentine sliced through a tiring QPR defence to fire past Paddy Kenny.

From Martin Tyler's commentary to the touchline celebrations of City boss Roberto Mancini, it is undoubtedly one of the greatest comebacks of the modern era.

3. Tottenham 3-5 Manchester United (2001-02)

Champions Manchester United were winless on the road at the start of the 2001-02 season but were jolted into life after Tottenham raced into a 3-0 half-time lead.

Goals from debutant Dean Richards, Les Ferdinand and Christian Ziege capped one of the best 45 minutes of football the White Hart Lane faithful had seen for many years.

But United emerged galvanised after the break. 

Andy Cole, Laurent Blanc, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Juan Sebastian Veron and David Beckham were on target as the Red Devils scored five in the second half, securing a remarkable turnaround in North London.

4. Crystal Palace 3-3 Liverpool (2013-14)

During their title challenge in 2013-14, Liverpool were a dangerous team to play — especially with the deadly duo of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge leading the attack.

This was evident during their visit to Selhurst Park in 2014, where Brendan Rodgers' side found themselves on course for a huge three points after going 3-0 up on 55 minutes. 

With the game coming only a week after skipper Steven Gerrard's infamous slip against Chelsea, Liverpool needed to win to keep themselves in a comfortable position at the top of the league. 

But disaster struck for the Reds during the final 11 minutes as Damien Delaney and a Dwight Gayle double tied the game at 3-3 — a result that shifted the title back in the favour of City.

5. Chelsea 2-3 Arsenal (1999-00)

A 90s classic saw a prime Arsenal team under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger travel to Chelsea — where the Blues were yet to concede a league goal during the 1999-00 season. 

The hosts raced into a 2-0 lead, with Tore Andre Flo and Dan Petrescu both netting.

But with just 15 minutes to play, Nwankwo Kanu burst into life. 

The Nigerian scored a memorable hat-trick, including a spectacular third that he curled in from the byeline.

The third goal sparked an iconic line from Tyler, who coined the phrase 'Kanu believe it?' as the match went down in history as one of the all-time greatest comebacks. 

6. Bournemouth 4-3 Liverpool (2016-17)

The final spot on our list sees Liverpool involved in yet another comeback that did not go in their favour.

During a visit to the Vitality Stadium in 2016, the Reds found themselves ahead thanks to goals from Sadio Mane and Divock Origi.

Bournemouth pulled one back early in the second half through a Callum Wilson penalty — before Emre Can scored Liverpool's third just eight minutes later.

The game looked comfortable for Liverpool until the last 15 minutes, when Ryan Fraser and Steve Cook scored two goals in two minutes to level matters. 

And there was last-gasp drama to follow as Nathan Ake bundled in a winner at the death to secure a memorable comeback for the Cherries.
