The Premier League has been regarded as one of the most exciting leagues in the world ever since its inception in 1992.

Some of football’s biggest names have graced stadiums up and down the country, bringing us unforgettable moments that live long in the memory.

But who are the Premier League’s 10 greatest players? In no particular order, we pick ours below.

Ryan Giggs

The ultimate stalwart, Ryan Giggs was near the very top of his game right up until the last of his 632 Premier League appearances.

A perpetual presence throughout Manchester United’s period of sustained success, he won an unmatched 13 league titles and provided a record 162 assists.

The Welshman played for 22 Premier League seasons and scored over a century of goals in a stellar career at Old Trafford.

John Terry

John Terry is rightly known as Chelsea’s greatest ever defender after an excellent 19-year career at Stamford Bridge.

With five Premier League winner's medals in total, all as captain, Terry formed was an integral part of Jose Mourinho's record-breaking side, which conceded just 15 goals on their way to lifting the trophy in 2005.

In addition to his defensive exploits, Terry netted 41 league goals for the Blues.

Paul Scholes

One of the most gifted players of his generation, Paul Scholes dominated United’s midfield with his mesmeric passing ability.

Claiming 11 league titles, Scholes formed a formidable partnership with Roy Keane at the heart of Sir Alex Ferguson's team.

The diminutive playmaker scored 107 league goals, the most famous of which was his volleyed effort at Bradford in 2000, connecting directly with David Beckham's corner.

Frank Lampard

The fact Frank Lampard sits fifth in the all-time list of Premier League top scorers despite being a midfielder tells you all you need to know about the legendary former Chelsea man.

Known for his trademark late runs into the box, Lampard showed exemplary consistency across his time in the Premier League.

Having started his career at West Ham, the England international scored 10 or more goals in 10 consecutive seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Roy Keane

The ultimate no-nonsense midfielder, Keane was Sir Alex’s lieutenant on the field for several successful years.

What is often overlooked, however, is the Irishman’s exceptional ability on the ball, as well as his disruptive influence off it.

He helped United win seven Premier League titles — four of those wearing the captain's armband — scoring 39 and assisting 33 goals during his time with the Red Devils.

Wayne Rooney

Ever since Wayne Rooney burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old at Everton, it was clear he was destined for great things.

He soon moved to United, where he won five Premier League titles and scored 183 goals at Old Trafford.

Rooney provided a number of memorable moments for United fans — notably his overhead kick against Manchester City in 2011.

Steven Gerrard

Surely the greatest Premier League player to have never won the title, Steven Gerrard is a Liverpool icon.

The marauding midfielder played a talismanic role for the Reds despite failing to break their trophy hoodoo.

Gerrard racked up 504 Premier League appearances, scoring 120 goals but will also be remembered for his slip against Chelsea during Liverpool's failed title bid in 2014.

Thierry Henry

Thierry Henry is regarded by many as the Premier League’s greatest ever player.

Henry seemed to have it all. He terrorised defences week in, week out for Arsenal with his pace, skill and pinpoint finishing.

No player has won the Golden Boot on more occasions than the Frenchman, scooping the award four times and scoring 175 goals overall.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The only current player to make LiveScore's list, Cristiano Ronaldo is without doubt one of the greatest to ever play the game.

The Portuguese icon won three Premier League titles with United before reaching even greater heights with Real Madrid and then Juventus.

At 36, Ronaldo is showing no signs of slowing down on his return to Old Trafford, providing several match-winning displays already this season to further cement his incredible legacy.

Alan Shearer

The ultimate No9, no other Premier League player has ever come close to the incredible 260 goals Alan Shearer scored.

Over spells at Southampton, Blackburn and boyhood club Newcastle, Shearer bullied opponents with his combination of aerial power and devastating shooting ability.

The Toon favourite won one Premier League title during his career with Blackburn in 1995.
