Sunday’s Euro 2024 Bet Builder tips: Big guns expected to progress
- England and Spain expected to progress from their Euro 2024 Round of 16 games
- The Three Lions have kept clean sheets in two of their three games
- Alvaro Morata scored a hat-trick against Georgia in qualifying
Sunday sees two Round-of-16 matches at the European Championship take place, starting off with England’s clash with Slovakia in Gelsenkirchen.
Then we head to Cologne for a clash between a Spanish side that are the only team to have won all three of their games at this tournament so far, against the surprise package Georgia.
England vs Slovakia (Sunday, 5pm)
Bet 1: Draw half-time/England full-time
The last two England matches have been level at the break and there is a lot of pressure on Gareth Southgate’s team.
They looked much better in the second half of the 0-0 draw with Slovenia, after the introduction of fresh substitutes and this could be a strategy that sees the Three Lions win another nervy encounter.
Bet 2: England most corners
After losing the corner battle in their first two matches, England recorded six against Slovenia, without conceding any.
With Southgate likely to make some changes in wide areas and his team continuing to defend well, they can once again come out on top in the corner count.
Bet 3: Both teams to score - No
Though England have been disappointing at this tournament, they have defended well, keeping clean sheets in two of their three games.
Slovakia have scored in all of their games, but this is the toughest defence that they have faced, with Morten Hjulmand’s 25-yard pile-driver for Denmark, being the only goal conceded by England.
Spain vs Georgia (Sunday, 8pm)
Spain vs Georgia (Sunday, 8pm)
Bet 1: Spain/Spain in half-time/full-time
Spain were ahead at the break in their wins against Croatia and Albania, with only stubborn Italy able to hold on until the second half before conceding.
Georgia have scored in the first half of all three of their matches, but the Spanish will dominate possession in a way that the minnows have yet to experience in this tournament.
Bet 2: Both teams to score - No
Spain are the only team to have not conceded a goal at this tournament, which is a statement, having been drawn in a group featuring the likes of Croatia and Italy.
Although Georgia will pose an attacking threat on the break and have scored in all of their games, Spain’s defence could be a test too far.
Bet 3: Alvaro Morata to score
Alvaro Morata opened the scoring in Spain’s 3-0 win over Croatia and though he has not found the net since, he will fancy his chances of adding to his tally.
The Spanish captain has scored 36 goals in 76 games for his country and bagged a hat-trick against Georgia in qualifying for this tournament last September.
