Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand will be hoping his side can hold sway over Slovenia again

- Denmark have won five of their six meetings with Slovenia
- Both teams have scored in the last three meetings
- Recommended bet:
Denmark to win 2-1

Slovenia and Denmark are no strangers to each other, having been paired together in Euro 2024 qualifying and that could lead to a lively opening encounter in Group C on Sunday.

The pair finished the campaign on 22 points each, with Denmark taking top spot courtesy of a 2-1 win over the Slovenians to settle matters via their head-to-head record.

Their other clash finished 1-1 and a similar outcome looks likely in this Stuttgart showdown.

Team news

Slovenia have a squad fit and raring to go with 36-year-old Josip Ilicic looking for his first start since 2021, having come off the bench to score in the recent friendly win over Armenia.

The Danes also have a clean bill of health as Andres Christensen and Benfica's Alexander Bah have recovered from injuries and should feature.

The stats

Denmark have won five of their six meetings with Slovenia, while both teams have scored in their last three meetings.

Denmark have lost just one of their last 12 matches in all competitions.

Slovenia have lost only one of their last 10vmatches in all competitions.

Prediction

Denmark have an excellent record when it comes to taking on Slovenia and they can get their Euro 2024 campaign off to the perfect start to maintain an excellent run of form leading up to the tournament.

The Danes have lost one of their last 12 outings, but Slovenia head to Germany in good shape, too, having lost just one of their last 10 matches – although they are warm favourites to finish bottom of a section also containing England and Serbia.

The Three Lions are expected to win the group, but with third place possibly being enough to qualify for the knockout stages, every game will be crucial and picking up one win may be enough to go through, so that could lead to some lively encounters.

Nerves often play a part in the early exchanges of tournaments, but Denmark are seasoned campaigners in major finals and they lifted this trophy against all odds in 1992.

Those kinds of heroics may be hard to repeat this time around, but they will look to make a fast start and they should overcome their inexperienced opponents, who are appearing at their first Euros in 24 years and just their second finals overall.

It was 2-1 to Denmark the last time these two locked horns and that looks a solid option for a correct score bet this weekend.

Slovenia have scored in each of their last 12 matches and will be hard to hold at bay with star striker Benjamin Sesko in their ranks, while Denmark have kept a clean sheet in only one of their last six matches.

Therefore, the Dragons should be able to find a way through but whether they can spring a shock result remains to be seen.
