Sheffield United have won eight straight home Championship matches without conceding a solitary goal and are expected to extend that streak against abject travellers Plymouth.

Wayne Rooney has to be fearing the worst at Bramall Lane given his side have not won away all season nor kept a clean sheet on the road since April.

Team news

United could welcome back defender Anel Ahmedhodzic, who turned his ankle in training earlier this week.

Tom Davies is on standby for a place in midfield if Vini Souza, who came off with a sore hamstring at Millwall, is not deemed fit.

Tyrese Campbell, who has scored six goals in his last eight matches, hopes to be available after a back issue saw him miss out at The Den.

Wayne Rooney could reshuffle his back four again with Bali Mumba set to drop to left-back if winger Freddie Issaka recovers from the illness which saw him miss Tuesday's 2-1 home defeat by Swansea.

Skippr Joe Edwards, top-scorer Morgan Whittaker and loan stars Ibrahim Cissoko and Muhamed Tijani are all out for the visitors.

The stats

Sheffield United top the division with a defensive record bettered only by Burnley.

Chris Wilder's men are unbeaten in nine games and unbeaten at home all season, where they have won eight straight matches, all to nil.

Plymouth boast the worst defence in the division with 40 goals conceded in their 19 fixtures.

Away from home they have taken two points out of a possible 30 and have conceded 10 goals in their last two road trips when losing 6-1 at Norwich and 4-0 at Bristol City.

Prediction

Sheffield United had to earn the right to go top on Wednesday night with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Millwall, but it seems unlikely they will have to graft anywhere near as much to stay there this weekend.

Wretched travellers Plymouth are the next side to visit Bramall Lane when they will be hoping to become the first since QPR in August to both find the net there and avoid defeat.

That is the huge task facing Plymouth and ending United's run of eight straight home wins to nil looks far beyond them.

Rooney continues to shuffle his defence in a bid to find some sort of solidity but they continue to be rolled over and United should be a class apart.

The United/United Half Time/Full Time result has landed nine times this season and Saturday can see the hosts do it again.
