Heavyweight FA Cup clash headlines this week's must-watch TV games

The FA Cup quarter-finals take centre stage this weekend following a number of tasty European ties.

Ahead of a busy week of action, we pick out seven televised games that are worth watching.

Monday, March 11 — Chelsea vs Newcastle (Sky Sports, 8pm)

Both Chelsea and Newcastle need a win in this fixture if they are to keep their hopes of European football alive for next season and all eyes will be on them under the lights at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have lost vice-captain Ben Chilwell again so must dig deep to get over the line while the Magpies have an injury crisis of their own.

With both teams depleted, it should make for interesting viewing in West London.

Tuesday, March 12 — Arsenal vs Porto (TNT Sports, 8pm)

Arsenal were left stunned by Porto in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie and must overturn a 1-0 deficit at the Emirates.

Mikel Arteta's Gunners have been firing at a rapid rate in 2024 but their Portuguese opponents are the only team to stop them from scoring since Liverpool in early January.

Wednesday, March 13 — Borussia Dortmund vs PSV Eindhoven (TNT Sports, 8pm)

Another Champions League encounter makes our list of must-watch matches with the contest between Borussia Dortmund and PSV Eindhoven finely poised.

The Dutch side are flying in the Eredivisie and look nailed on for the title while the Germans have faltered this year and sit 20 points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Nevertheless, Dortmund are always tough to beat at home and PSV will have to be at their best to defeat Edin Terzic's men in front of the Yellow Wall.

Thursday, March 14 — West Ham vs Freiburg (TNT Sports, 5.45pm)

It was not a great return for English clubs in the Europa League last week with both Brighton and West Ham losing their first legs.

David Moyes was dealt a hammer blow at Freiburg in the reverse fixture but the London Stadium will be in full voice as he looks to mastermind a comeback victory.

Friday, March 15 — Chelsea vs Arsenal (Sky Sports, 7pm)

It is a tight contest at the top of the Women's Super League and it could be make-or-break for Arsenal when they visit Chelsea on Friday.

The Blues are on course for a fifth consecutive title and could go six points clear of the Gunners with a win.

Arsenal were the last team other than Chelsea to win the WSL in 2019 and this match also serves as a warm-up for the Conti Cup final at the end of the month.

Sunday, March 17 — Manchester United vs Liverpool (ITV1, 3.30pm)

After going toe to toe with Premier League title rivals Manchester City last weekend, Liverpool take on the Citizens' old foes United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Both teams will be desperate to book their place at Wembley for the semi-finals and continue their pursuit of more domestic glory.

Sunday, March 17 — Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona (ITV4, 8pm)

We head to the Spanish capital for our final must-watch match of the week as Atletico Madrid host Barcelona.

The two LaLiga giants are nestled in third and fourth place in the table with Atleti looking for revenge after losing 1-0 in the reverse fixture.
