Despite a few question marks hanging over England’s selection plans and how many forward players Southgate can fit in the side, they should be good enough to make a winning start.

The fact that media pundits cannot agree on the likely Three Lions starting line-up means that Serbia will not know what to expect either.

England’s attacking options are up there with the best in the tournament and Serbia will struggle to keep them at bay.

Dragan Stojkovic’s squad do have attacking threats of their own and, in the absence of Harry Maguire, they will feel they can cause England some problems from set-pieces.
