Salford and Harrogate close season with entertaining draw
Salford and Harrogate shared the points courtesy of four first-half goals as an entertaining 2-2 draw at The Peninsula Stadium brought their respective seasons to an end.
Salford were ahead as early as the fifth minute when Callum Hendry rose highest to meet Luke Garbutt’s corner and head the ball into the net.
The visitors were level with their first real effort in the 27th minute as Abraham Odoh calmly slotted the ball past Alex Cairns in the City goal from 18 yards out.
Their joy was short-lived, however, as a spectacular volley from the edge of the box by Ryan Watson restored the Ammies’ lead just six minutes later.
But Town rallied once more in first-half injury time when Matty Foulds diverted the ball home with a neat flick following a George Thomson corner to make it 2-2.
Harrogate came out of the blocks quickest in the second half, with Cairns pulling off two good saves to deny Thomson and Jack Muldoon just after the break.
Both sides went in search of a winner and either could have snatched it, with Josh March coming closest for Town in the dying moments.
