Gutted Page backs Dragons to fire in Euros play-offs

Rob Page says Wales are ready to do it the hard way after missing out on automatic qualification for Euro 2024.

The Dragons finished four points behind Croatia in the race for a top-two finish and now face an anxious wait to see who they will host in a play-off semi-final in March.

After a 1-1 draw with Turkey to close the group, Page said: "We're disappointed, but I've said to the players, Ben [Davies] said it in the huddle on the pitch, we put in a great performance. 

"That level of performance is what we need to do. If we do that when we come back together in March we'll be okay. 

"I said before the game, to come into this camp still in with a chance of qualification is an incredible achievement. 

"We're disappointed we haven't qualified automatically, but I'm off tomorrow to find out who we've got in the draw for the play-off. 

"We'll get together in March and build on what we saw tonight, and against Croatia."

Wales will find out on Thursday if they face Finland, Ukraine or Iceland in Cardiff on March 21, if they win they would play Estonia or Poland. 

The Dragons took the lead through Neco Williams in the seventh minute and were denied what appeared to be two clear first-half penalties before Yusuf Yazici levelled from the spot after another controversial decision.

Page added: "I've got to be careful what I say, we could've had two penalties and it seemed like a soft penalty. 

"Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it doesn't."
