- PSG are on 15-game unbeaten run
- Sociedad have failed to score in last four games
- Recommended bet: PSG to win to zero

Paris Saint-Germain are hoping to avoid a third-successive exit at the last-16 stage in the Champions League when they take on LaLiga side Real Sociedad.

PSG have been beaten by fellow heavyweights Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the first knockout round in the last two years but their bid to win a first-ever Champions League crown has been aided by a much more favourable draw against Sociedad this time.

The visitors did win Group D thanks to three wins and three draws but they have found goals very hard to come by of late and are likely to be up against it when they face Kylian Mbappe and company in the first leg at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Team news

PSG quintet Presnel Kimpembe, Milan Skriniar, Sergio Rico, Nuno Mendes and Layvin Kurzawa are all still absent but star striker Mbappe, who stayed on the bench for the weekend 3-1 win over Lille, is set to return.

Luis Enrique also seems likely to recall Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos and Warren Zaire-Emery for the visit of Sociedad.

La Real forward Mikel Oyarzabal is hoping to be fit for the first leg after a recent muscle problem but Sheraldo Becker, Kieran Tierney, Alvaro Odriozola, Carlos Fernandez and Aihen Munoz are all still out.

The stats

PSG have won four of their last five games in all competitions while Sociedad have managed just one victory in their last five outings.

This is the first ever competitive meeting between the two clubs.

PSG won two of their three home Group F games to zero, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 and AC Milan 3-0.

Sociedad's Group D campaign ended with consecutive goalless draws against Salzburg and Inter Milan.

Prediction

Imanol Alguacil will be hoping that his side finds their shooting boots in Paris.

It is now 384 minutes since Real Sociedad scored a goal with the last time they registered coming in a 2-1 win at Celta Vigo on January 23.

Since then, Imanol Alguacil's side have recorded three goalless draws against Rayo Vallecano, Girona and Mallorca, before they went down to a 1-0 LaLiga defeat at home against Osasuna on Saturday.

Their problems are obvious coming into this daunting trip to Paris and the hosts, who have lost just once at home all season, can secure a vital first-leg victory to zero.

Not only do PSG possess the firepower of Mbappe, who has 30 goals in all competitions already this season, but they also have the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani as major attacking threats.
