Paris Saint-Germain have snapped up Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos on a season-long loan.

The Ligue 1 club have an option to buy the 22-year-old ace should he make an impact in the French capital.

Speaking on the team's official website, he said: "I'm very proud and happy to join Paris Saint-Germain.

"PSG are one of the biggest clubs in the world with one of the best squads."

Ramos rose to prominence with Portugal at last year's World Cup in Qatar, where he bagged a hat-trick in their round of 16 fixture against Switzerland.

He had a prolific 2022-23 for Benfica, scoring 19 league goals and helping guide the side to their 38th Primeira Liga title.

The Olhao native also played an important role in the Eagles' Champions League campaign as they topped a group of PSG, Juventus and Maccabi Haifa.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said: "We are very happy to welcome Goncalo as an exciting new striker in our PSG family.

"He is a fantastic international player who is young, hungry and fights for the team. It is these kinds of players who are the future of our great institution."

PSG — who have already seen Lionel Messi depart this summer — could lose two more high-profile players with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar linked with exits.

Ramos is the Parisians' ninth major signing of the window, with the Portugal international set to lead the line for their title defence this season.

PSG start the 2023-24 campaign at Parc des Princes against Lorient on Saturday.
