Reds boss not keen on blues

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is not impressed by the idea to introduce blue cards to football.

A proposed sin-bin trial will take place across lower levels of football with a view to using them at the elite end of the game.

But Klopp poured scorn on the proposal.

He said: "It doesn't sound like a fantastic idea in the first moment.

"But actually I can't remember when the last fantastic idea came from these guys."

Liverpool are two points clear at the top of the Premier League ahead of Saturday's matches.

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Heung-Min Son has made himself available for Tottenham's game against Brighton on Saturday.

The Spurs skipper has been missed several games while on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup.

Postecoglou said: "It wouldn't surprise anyone that he is like that.

"He is very disappointed for Korea's exit. At the semi-final stage you feel so close.

"But he gave everything for his nation, no-one could question his commitment.

"I spoke to him after and he was keen to be back, so no surprise he was back training straight away."

Arteta on celebration plans

Mikel Arteta has dismissed criticism of Arsenal's celebrations following their victory over Liverpool last weekend.

The Gunners received flack for their response to the win, which saw a jubilant Martin Odegaard borrowing a camera from the club photographer to take pictures at full-time.

Arteta said: "I love it because I've seen managers at the Emirates on their knees, managers going across the pitch.

"I love it because it brings so much passion and emotion to the game. It's my opinion. A lot of people may have something a lot different to mine.

"People are entitled to have their opinion. When you do something publicly, some people will think positively, some negatively. Behave how you think is right to behave. We don't want to lose that.

"Managers and teams celebrate a lot. It's so tough to win in this league. It was a big match for us. You could tell from the stadium the atmosphere. It was a great day."

Unai Emery has issued a rallying call to Aston Villa supporters ahead of their crucial home match against Manchester United on Sunday.

Both teams are fighting for European qualification and the pressure is on the hosts, who have lost their last two games at Villa Park following a long unbeaten run on home soil.

Emery said: "It is a new challenge for us and for our supporters. We all have to use our positive energy. Each individual fan has to support us with their energy.

"We have to connect with them being demanding and successful, being demanding on the pitch.

"It is going to be a difficult match because they need to get points against us. They are facing us trying to get to us in the table, being closer to us.

"This is a special, key match. We want to create a great atmosphere with our supporters."

Ahead of Manchester City's match with Everton, Pep Guardiola has heaped praise on his opposite number Sean Dyche.

The Toffees boss will celebrate his 300th game as a Premier League manager when his team visits the treble winners.

Guardiola said: "First of all congratulations. It’s a good milestone. We face each other many times at Burnley and now Everton.

"Congratulations to him. When you achieve these numbers, it's because he's been so consistent.

"I have huge respect for Sean and all he has done.

"The way he plays, the belief in the players he has. Just focus on what you have to do."

Eddie Howe has hit out at criticism of defender Dan Burn from Newcastle fans.

The left-back has come under pressure after a difficult afternoon during last week's 4-4 draw with Luton.

He said: "I understand it happens. Everyone has an opinion.

"Dan has been such a big player for us. He's pivotal to how we play in lots of different ways.

"He's also a huge leader in the group. A very big presence. He's been an incredible signing for me and much better than I could have hoped.

"He's still helping galvanise the group. I can't speak highly enough of him."

Mauricio Pochettino believes Chelsea's 3-1 FA Cup win at Aston Villa can help his inconsistent side kick on.

He said: "I think before we had some good performances and after we were not consistent enough.

"Maybe it can be the starting point for us to be consistent and have this type of performance more often.

"I think the players deserve it because they have been working really hard from the beginning of the season.

"This type of result showed the talent and quality we have in our squad."

Chelsea currently sit 11th in the Premier League and play Crystal Palace on Monday night.
