Premier League Matchday 27: Manchester derby tops the bill

Bragging rights are up for grabs when Manchester City host Manchester United this weekend in the Premier League.

Elsewhere, Liverpool travel to Nottingham Forest and Arsenal face Sheffield United as the battle for top spot continues.

Brentford vs Chelsea (Saturday, 3pm)

Chelsea bounced back from their Carabao Cup heartbreak by beating Leeds in the FA Cup on Wednesday night but they still do not look convincing under Mauricio Pochettino.

Brentford are looking to complete a first league double over the Blues since 1939 and Thomas Frank's side have been solid against their West London neighbours recently, keeping a clean sheet in their last three meetings.

The Bees will need to focus their efforts on preventing Cole Palmer from dictating proceedings — the England international has been involved in 16 goals in his last 17 Premier League appearances for the visitors.

Everton vs West Ham (Saturday, 3pm)

Everton return to Goodison Park with renewed hopes of survival after their 10-point deduction was reduced to six, lifting them away from the relegation zone.

The Toffees are winless in their last nine Premier League games while their matches have only seen 62 goals scored in total this season, the fewest of any side in the top flight.

Meanwhile, West Ham are looking to build on their 4-2 hammering of Brentford and Jarrod Bowen will back himself to add to his first career hat-trick with more goals on Merseyside.

Fulham vs Brighton (Saturday, 3pm)

Fulham are unbeaten in seven outings against Brighton and the Seagulls have a tendency to collapse when they visit the capital.

Roberto De Zerbi's side are winless in five London trips this season and their injury crisis gives the Cottagers a great opportunity to extend their dominant run.

Marco Silva's men scored eight goals in four outings in February and will be buoyed by their 2-1 success at Manchester United last weekend but have only won back-to-back in the league once this season.

Newcastle vs Wolves (Saturday, 3pm)

Eleven of the last 17 top-flight meetings between Newcastle and Wolves have resulted in a draw but Eddie Howe will be keen to end his side's four-match winless run at St James' Park.

The Magpies have been prolific this season, scoring 54 times, yet their 23 goals conceded in their previous eight league outings —including four against Arsenal last Saturday — will be a concern.

Wolves continue to impress under Gary O'Neil and should fancy their chances having already won as many matches (11) as they did in the whole of their previous Premier League campaign.

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool (Saturday, 3pm)

Liverpool are flying high despite several key injuries but their trip to Nottingham Forest is not going to be an easy task.

The hosts are unbeaten in their last 13 home league games against the Reds and have scored in every top-flight match since appointing Nuno Espirito Santo.

Jurgen Klopp relied on his youth players to beat Southampton in the FA Cup on Wednesday night and will have no problem doing so again after their heroics against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final.

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace (Saturday, 3pm)

Tottenham have had to wait two weeks to try and bounce back from their defeat to Wolves but they will not have an easy ride against Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace.

Spurs are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches at home to Palace yet the new Eagles boss has already stamped his authority on the squad, picking up a 3-0 win over Burnley in his first match.

Heung-Min Son was not up to standards last time out but the South Korean has been involved in 10 goals in 15 league games against his next opponents — only against Southampton and Leicester has he been more prolific.

Luton vs Aston Villa (Saturday, 5.30pm, Sky Sports)

For the first time since 2016, Luton host Aston Villa at Kenilworth Road and the Hatters have dominated this fixture at home historically, winning nine of their last 11.

However, the hosts have lost four games in a row while Villa have picked up back-to-back wins.

No player has been involved in more Premier League goals than Ollie Watkins this season. The 28-year-old has scored 14 times and tallied 10 assists for the European challengers.

Burnley vs Bournemouth (Sunday, 1pm, Sky Sports)

Burnley have a lot of ground to make up if they are to stay in the Premier League and a win against Bournemouth would be a great way to start closing the 11-point gap to Nottingham Forest in 17th.

Dominic Solanke's 14-goal haul has earned the visitors 10 points this season and the prolific forward will likely need to shake off an injury concern if the Cherries are to bounce back from their FA Cup exit against Championship leaders Leicester.

Clarets boss Vincent Kompany has failed to make Turf Moor a fortress, with the East Lancashire outfit enduring the worst home record in the division, with only five points from 13 games.

Manchester City vs Manchester United (Sunday, 3.30pm, Sky Sports)

Erling Haaland's five-goal haul inspired a 6-2 FA Cup thrashing of Luton on Tuesday night and expect more to follow at the Etihad with Manchester City scoring in each of their last 54 home matches in all competitions.

Manchester United are Haaland's joint-favourite English opponents with the Norwegian having bagged five goals in four games against the Red Devils including a brace at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture.

Erik ten Hag's visitors have already lost 10 Premier League games this season and can ill afford to drop points in their race for a top-four finish.

Sheffield United vs Arsenal (Monday, 8pm, Sky Sports)

Arsenal travel to Sheffield United in good spirits having scored 25 times in their last six league fixtures.

The Blades have made a habit of shipping goals at Bramall Lane and could become the first team in English history to concede five in four consecutive home matches.

Mikel Arteta's Gunners means business in 2024 having collected maximum points since their loss at Fulham on New Year's Eve.
