Premier League Matchday 11: Gunners visit Toon as London rivals clash

Arsenal face a difficult trip to Newcastle as London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea come to blows during an action-packed Premier League Matchday 11.

Here are all the key facts and stats ahead of all 10 top-flight games.

Fulham vs Manchester United (Saturday, 12.30pm, TNT Sports)

Manchester United travel to Fulham fresh off successive 3-0 home losses to Manchester City and Newcastle.

Those dismal defeats have cranked up the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag — though he takes his Red Devils side to a ground they have won at on their last six visits.

That said, eighth-placed United have won just one of their last 11 top-flight games in London (three draws, seven losses) and have lost five of their first 10 league matches this term — their most since 1986-87.

Brentford vs West Ham (Saturday, 3pm)

The first of two all-London clashes sees Brentford take on West Ham, whose impressive start to the campaign has faded having taken just one point from their last three league matches.

Thomas Frank's Bees have won all four of their Premier League meetings with the Hammers, scoring twice in each match and keeping three clean sheets.

To make matters worse for David Moyes' men, the hosts are unbeaten in 13 London derby matches (seven wins, six draws) including a 2-0 win at Chelsea last weekend.

The Irons have lost more Premier League games against teams in the capital than any of their city rivals (119).

Burnley vs Crystal Palace (Saturday, 3pm)

Burnley are looking to avoid becoming the first team in English top-flight history to lose their first six home games of a campaign when Crystal Palace visit Turf Moor.

The Clarets have dropped a league-high 11 points from winning positions this term, including three against relegation rivals Bournemouth last Saturday.

Vincent Kompany will be encouraged by the Clarets' five-game unbeaten streak versus the South Londoners, who are without a win in three games since their 1-0 victory at Old Trafford on September 30.

Everton vs Brighton (Saturday, 3pm)

Five wins from their last seven in all competitions has boosted the mood at Everton ahead of Brighton's visit to Merseyside.

Robert De Zerbi's visitors, meanwhile, are without a win in four Premier League games as they face a side who beat them 5-1 when the two last met, at the Amex in May.

The Seagulls have won on their last two trips to Goodison Park, though, and are aiming to avoid losing three straight league away games for the first time since May 2021.

Manchester City vs Bournemouth (Saturday, 3pm)

Manchester City will look to extend their extraordinary record of 12 wins from 12 Premier League games against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

A daunting task for the Cherries is made worse by the fact City have won all 14 of their home league games in 2023, their longest streak since a run of 20 between March 2011 and March 2012.

Andoni Iraola got his first Premier League win against Burnley last weekend as the South Coast club hunt for back-to-back victories for the first time since April.

Sheffield United vs Wolves (Saturday, 3pm)

No side has had a worse start to a Premier League season after 10 games than Sheffield United as they look for their first win of the campaign against a resurgent Wolves.

The blunt Blades have just a single point and a goal difference of -22, with 20 of their 29 goals conceded coming in the second half.

Wolves are enjoying a five-game unbeaten streak in the league under Gary O'Neil but the absence of injured winger Pedro Neto will come as a blow. 

The Portuguese speedster (one goal, seven assists) and fellow attacker Hee Chan Hwang (six goals, one assist) have been involved in all 12 of the Midlands side's strikes this term, excluding own goals.

Newcastle vs Arsenal (Saturday, 5.30pm, Sky Sports)

Arsenal face a stern test of their title prospects at St James' Park when they come up against Newcastle.

Mikel Arteta's unbeaten Gunners are two points off the top of the Premier League ahead of Matchday 11 but face a Magpies side who have not lost in six league games (four wins, two draws) — scoring at least two in all of their last five.

Eddie Nketiah is Arsenal's top scorer in the league this season but just one of his 19 career top-flight goals have come north of London (vs Burnley in May 2019), with all five of his strikes this term scored at home.

Nottingham Forest vs Aston Villa (Sunday, 2pm, Sky Sports)

Unai Emery will be looking to mark a year in charge of Aston Villa by further rubber stamping his side's Champions League credentials by beating Nottingham Forest.

With 22 points from their 10 games, Villa are enjoying their best start to a top-flight campaign since 1998-99, while Forest are currently without a win in six matches.

Moussa Diaby has six goal involvements in his first 10 Premier League outings (three goals, three assists). 

Only four Frenchman have scored or assisted more in their first 10 — Eric Cantona (nine), Dimitri Payet (eight), Laurent Robert (eight) and David Ginola (seven).

Luton vs Liverpool (Sunday, 4.30pm, Sky Sports)

Luton and Liverpool's first meeting since January 2008 rounds off Sunday's action as two sides at opposite ends of the table go head-to-head.

The Hatters are still searching for their first Premier League win at Kenilworth Road and beating the Reds — who have only lost one of their last 10 against the Bedfordshire side — would be a huge shock.

Mohamed Salah has been involved in 32 Premier League goals in 2023 (20 goals, 12 assists), with only Erling Haaland managing more (33). 

Meanwhile, only James Ward-Prowse (16) has created more chances from set-pieces than Luton full-back Alfie Doughty this term (14).

Tottenham vs Chelsea (Monday, 8pm, Sky Sports)

The Premier League action concludes with a London derby between Tottenham and Chelsea on Monday night.

Leaders Spurs continue to fly high under Ange Postecoglou, with their 26 points the club's most after 10 games since 1960-61 — and the most ever for a new Premier League manager.

The Blues are enduring a more difficult period, with their 15 league losses in 2023 only one fewer than their defeats in 2021 and 2022 combined.

They still boast a superb record at their London foes, however, with only Manchester United (15) winning more away games against Spurs in the competition than Chelsea (14).
