Ollie Watkins admits his aim is to make the England squad for Euro 2024 after scoring again in Aston Villa's 4-1 win over West Ham.

The in-form striker, 27, set up Douglas Luiz's opener and netted with an emphatic left-footed finish as Unai Emery's side climbed to fifth in the Premier League.

After taking his tally for the season to eight goals in all competitions, Watkins is determined to shine for the Three Lions in Germany.

He said: "Over 20 goals and going to the Euros is what I want to do. That's my goals and it's what I'm pushing for.

"I know my club form has to be good with Villa."

On his form since Emery's arrival, Watkins added: "Before I would run into the corner flags and be chasing things but now we have attacking full-backs that do that so I try to stay central. I make more clever runs, I would say.

"There were times where I was dropping too deep to get touches on the ball whereas now I'm not as bothered about that.

"I let the other creative players do what they need to do and receive the ball from them. I'm not too worried about touches. It's working well."

Emery praised his team's performance, with Villa having won four of their last five league games.

He said: "We are feeling very good at home with our fans. We tried to add to the support and energy.

"We are trying to be positive and play in our style. We did well across the 90 minutes and imposed ourselves for most of us.

"We are not contenders to be in the top four or in the top seven teams in the beginning but of course we need to take our dreams.

"One of our dreams is to be with the top seven teams and to do something in Europe.

"To get European football is very important and that is the work we need to try to do. We need to be consistent in what we are doing."
