Nottingham Forest and Fulham have both had strong starts to the season and they look evenly matched for Saturday’s clash at the City Ground.

Forest are looking to build on strong results against Liverpool and Brighton while the Cottagers will hope last week’s 3-1 win over Newcastle will be a springboard for a first away win of the season.

Team news

Nottingham Forest will be without influential midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White after he was sent off against Brighton last week.

Willy Boly could be involved for the Tricky Trees but Ibrahim Sangare and Danilo are both out long term.

Fulham have no fresh injury concerns and striker Carlos Vinicius is pushing for inclusion in the squad following a calf injury.

The stats

Nottingham Forest have drawn their last three home league games.

Both teams have scored in seven of Forest’s last nine outings.

Four of Fulham’s last five away games have featured fewer than three goals.

Forest are undefeated in their five Premier League contests this season.

Fulham are unbeaten in their last four league matches.

Prediction

Nottingham Forest and Fulham will probably be quite content with the way the season has started, with the Midlands outfit being one of just four Premier League teams still undefeated after five games, and it could be that they prove difficult to split at the City Ground.

Forest are now in the third season back in the top flight after a long exile and their form on the banks of the River Trent has been key in previous campaigns to them maintaining their status with the home supporters generating one of the top flight’s best atmospheres.

However, it is notable that both of their two victories this season have come on the road and while a 1-0 victory at promoted Southampton was not a seismic shock, a similar result at Liverpool certainly was as they posted their first Anfield success since 1969.

They followed that with a 2-2 draw at Brighton last week and, after stalemates against Bournemouth and Wolves, and another 1-1 before a shootout defeat to Newcastle in the League Cup, there looks a strong chance that they will be involved in another draw when the Cottagers head to the City Ground.

Fulham performed well at Manchester United on the opening night of the season before being stung by a late goal and they have built on that promise by being undefeated in their subsequent four matches.

That included a strong 3-1 victory at home to Newcastle last week, but they did not quite have enough to get the better of Ipswich in their most recent away match.

Marco Silva’s team definitely appear to be heading in the right direction but may not quite have enough punch to gain their first away success of the campaign, so it could once again prove that these teams are of a similar level and could be difficult to split.
