Millwall to win

An 88th-minute penalty scored by Victor Torp salvaged a 2-2 draw for Coventry against Cardiff in Frank Lampard's first game in charge on Saturday but the Sky Blues face a tougher challenge away to Millwall this weekend.

While Coventry head into the next batch of league games in 16th spot in the Championship, Millwall are contenders for a playoff berth, sitting just five points outside of the top six.

The Lions are especially tough to crack at the Den and Coventry do not have the greatest of away records so Lampard's side could be up against it on Saturday.

Team news

Frank Lampard is searching for his first win as Coventry manager.

Defender Japhet Tanganga is set to miss out for Millwall after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Oxford, while Jake Cooper is sidelined with a knee injury.

For the visitors, Ben Wilson and Haji Wright are both unavailable through injury.

The stats

Millwall have collected 17 of their 25 points in the Championship on home soil this season.

Coventry have won just one of their nine away games in the league this campaign, picking up a total of seven points on the road.

Millwall are conceding on average less than one goal per game in the Championship, having shipped only 15 goals in 17 league matches.

Duncan Watmore has scored five times in the league for Millwall this season.

Prediction

Millwall have not lost a Championship contest since the 1st October when they were beaten 1-0 by Cardiff, having gone nine matches without defeat in the second tier.

That run featured more draws than wins (five compared to four) but they should be able to put three points on the board against struggling Coventry.

Coventry parted ways with Mark Robins at the start of November and have since appointed Frank Lampard in his place.

And Lampard's first match in charge provided plenty of food for thought as his team snatched a 2-2 draw at home to Cardiff.

But Millwall are fiercer opponents than the Bluebirds and Coventry are worth opposing at the Den.

Millwall have typically saved their best performances for their own fans this term, winning five of their nine home games in the league, while 17 of their 25 points have been accrued on their own patch.

Lampard is at the start of a new project with Coventry, whereas Millwall are a more settled unit and make themselves incredibly tough to break down with each of their last ten matches producing under 2.5 goals.

Backing a low-scoring game is enticing but the better approach is to back Millwall to win and extend their unbeaten run in the league.
