Odegaard says Arsenal need 'to be better' after narrow Wolves win

Martin Odegaard has admitted Arsenal need to improve when they go two goals ahead after beating Wolves 2-1.

The hosts cruised to a 2-0 advantage at the Emirates, with Bukayo Saka and Odegaard each on the scoresheet within 15 minutes.

However, the Gunners allowed Wolves back into the game when Matheus Cunha curled a delightful strike into the top left corner with four minutes of normal time remaining, the goal coming about after Oleksandr Zinchenko surrendered possession.

Norwegian playmaker Odegaard has insisted Arsenal must do better when they are in a commanding lead.

The Gunners skipper, 24, said: "We started so strong again. The first half was brilliant. We scored two good goals and dominated everything.

 "We let them in a little bit with the goal, but that's football. I guess we have to learn from that.

"We know in the Premier League that you can never switch off. Today was a good example of that. We have to make sure we do even better next time we go 2-0 up."

But despite some criticism over lapses in concentration, Odegaard was understandably delighted with Arsenal's recent form. 

He added: "It's been a good week with some good results. We're there at the top and we have to keep improving and keep pushing.

"[The schedule] is tough, but almost the whole season is tough. You don't have much time to recover.

"We have to be smart with our recovery and get some rest before the next game [against Luton]."

The victory over Wolves means the Gunners are temporarily four points clear at the top of the table, with a trip to Luton coming up on Tuesday.
