Erik ten Hag is struggling to get a tune out of United, who have lost five of their last eight games

- United have lost five of their last eight games in all competitions
- Galatasaray have failed to score an away goal in last two CL group-stage campaigns
- Recommended bet: Under 2.5 goals

After losing to Crystal Palace at the weekend, Manchester United will try to return to winning ways when they host Galatasaray in their second group match in the Champions League.

The Red Devils lost 4-3 to Bayern Munich in a thrilling contest in Germany earlier this month, while Galatasaray were held to a 2-2 draw by FC Copenhagen in matchday one.

United will feel they are already playing catch-up in the group, while a draw would represent a solid result for the Turkish giants.

Team news

Red Devils coach Erik ten Hag will be unable to call upon Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo due to injury, while Jadon Sancho continues to train alone after a fall-out with the former Ajax coach.

Winger Antony could be back in the squad after returning from a leave of absence, while Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat will hope to start.

Kazimcan Karatas will miss out through a knee injury for Galatasaray, while winger Hakim Ziyech is a major doubt as he continues to battle a knock.

Former Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi will lead Galatasaray's attack, while Dries Mertens and Kerem Akturkoglu will flank him.

The stats

United have struggled to string results together of late, losing five of their last eight games in all competitions.

The Red Devils have lost two of their last three games at home, only scoring once in the two Premier League games against Brighton and Crystal Palace, having beaten an understrength Eagles' side 3-0 in the Carabao Cup.

Galatasaray will travel with a spring in their step, as they are unbeaten in their last 20 competitive matches in all competitions.

They have won four in a row away from home, but they usually struggle in the Champions League.

The Turkish giants failed to score during their last two group-stage campaigns, albeit in 2018 and 2019.

Prediction

United would normally be expected to have too much quality for Galatasaray, and while that may still be the case, the evidence suggests they are playing without confidence this season.

Ten Hag's side have shown no consistency this year, and rather than improve, they have regressed from last season.

Galatasaray will aim to frustrate the Red Devils and snatch a point, and United showed on Saturday they struggle to break teams down in a low block.

Ten Hag's men failed to create many chances in their 1-0 defeat to Palace, and that may continue as United struggle with their injury problems.
