Tuchel backs Romelu

Thomas Tuchel believes Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku can remain on the goal trail after bagging a double in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Wolves. 

The Blues head to relegation-haunted Leeds tonight knowing anything less than three points could see them lose their grip on third place in the Premier League table. 

And Tuchel is confident Lukaku will be in the mood to find the net again at Elland Road. 

He said: "Romelu has scored goals all his life. It’s in his body and I tell him all the time to trust his body, trust his brain and to trust his instincts because he knows how to do it.

"He will never lose the ability to score goals. He just needs to rediscover that spark and hopefully after these two goals he can continue in this way.

"It’s always a good moment for a striker when they score goals and hopefully he can trust his instincts and score more for us.

"Romelu has worked hard in training, he works hard for the group and there is no big ego there and this is what we love about him. 

"He is a top team player. That is why he deserved to start against Wolves and he deserved his goals. Now he must continue in this way."

An unbelievable signing

Micah Richards cannot wait to see Erling Haaland in a Manchester City shirt. 

The Borussia Dortmund goal machine is destined for the Premier League after City revealed they had agreed a deal in principle to sign him yesterday. 

And former Citizens star Richards is confident the Leeds-born Norwegian will hit the ground running next season. 

He said: "What a brilliant bit of business to strike a deal now — and what an unbelievable signing he will be.

"I don't want to say he is the missing piece in their team, because City have been excellent for the past couple of seasons anyway while mostly doing without a recognised striker, but he will add a whole new dimension to their play.

"I remember when City beat Borussia Dortmund last season. Haaland was roughing up Ruben Dias and I'd never seen anyone do that to him before.

"Haaland will put pressure on defenders, offer more of a threat from crosses and also hold it up and bring other people into play. 

"And of course he will score goals — loads and loads of goals."

Pep dismisses Evra's comments

Pep Guardiola has fired back at Patrice Evra's claim that he does not like players with personality. 

Ahead of Manchester City's visit to Wolves tonight, Guardiola was quick to dismiss what the former Manchester United man had to say earlier this week. 

The City boss said: "I don’t want personality? Well, I don’t agree Patrice.

"I have had incredible players at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and here. I could give a good list in terms of their personality and character. 

"Most of them have won World Cups, European [Championships], Champions Leagues and leagues. 

"Maybe Evra is right or maybe he’s doing a good quote to come back to Manchester United to work there."

Ruben is loving life at the Bridge

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is happy to play wherever Chelsea need him. 

Primarily known as an attacking midfielder, the England international has filled a variety of roles for Thomas Tuchel this season. 

But after various injury problems, he is simply happy to be enjoying regular action with his boyhood club. 

Speaking to Sky Sports, Loftus-Cheek, 26, said: "Coming into Chelsea this season, I didn't know what to expect positionally. I've always seen myself as a midfielder but someone who can do jobs in different positions.

"It's something I did coming through the ranks in the academy so I'm not completely foreign to them — and my skill set allows me to carry out those jobs.

"So whenever I'm called upon to play a certain role, I'll do it to the best of my ability. 

"I've been playing deeper in midfield, which is completely different from the past six or seven years when I was more of an attacking player, but I've always had defensive qualities.

"I've enjoyed the challenge from right wing-back, to centre-back to the No6 role in midfield. It is very different but I've enjoyed it."

Victory is our focus

Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal are determined to pick up three points at Tottenham tomorrow.

Victory would secure Champions League football for the Gunners and leave their bitter rivals facing a season in the Europa League. 

Arteta, 40, said: "The message is clear. If we win against them, we are in the Champions League next season.

"We will go to play and we will go for it as we always do. It’s how we’ve got into this position so it’s how we will approach it."
