Liverpool vs Bournemouth predictions: Reds to pick off lively Cherries
- Liverpool have won ten of their last 11 meetings with Bournemouth in all competitions
- Bournemouth have won just one of their last seven Premier League matches
- Recommended bet: Liverpool to win & both teams to score
Arne Slot couldn't have dreamed of a much better start to life as Liverpool, even if last week's home loss to Nottingham Forest did come as something of a huge shock.
The Reds have won four of their opening five matches under the Dutchman who saw his side quickly respond to the Forest defeat with an impressive 3-1 victory over Milan in the San Siro on Tuesday.
That Champions League win was just the tonic for Slot, who must still be wondering how his side managed to play so badly against the Tricky Trees at Anfield last Saturday.
The international break didn't help as several of Liverpool's star men had to traipse to South America and back, but having made an immediate return from Milan in midweek, the Reds should be in better shape for their Bournemouth assignment on Saturday.
Team news
Harvey Elliott is Liverpool's only injury concern. Cody Gakpo will be hoping to keep his place following an impressive display against Milan, but Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez will be pushing to start on Saturday.
Andy Robertson is likely to return after being rested in midweek and should replace Kostas Tsimikas at left back.
Injured duo Tyler Adams and Dango Ouattara look set to miss out this weekend but on-loan Kepa should return in goal having been ineligible to play against his parent club Chelsea last week.
The stats
Bournemouth have won one of their five matches this season.
Liverpool have won their last five home meetings with Bournemouth by an aggregate 20-2.
At least three goals have been scored in 13 of the last 14 meetings.
Liverpool have won ten of their last 11 meetings with Bournemouth.
The Reds have scored at least two goals in four of their five matches this season.
Bournemouth have never won at Anfield in 10 attempts.
Prediction
Liverpool suffered a shock home defeat to Nottingham Forest last week but they are unlikely to slip up again on their return to Anfield this Saturday.
The Reds quickly responded to that 1-0 loss with an impressive Champions League victory over AC Milan on Tuesday and they will be determined to stay on course following last Saturday's blip.
Liverpool looked leggy against Forest but a large number of their squad had been away on international duty, with several of their South American contingent returning back to Merseyside only hours before the home clash with the Tricky Trees.
Some of the blame could lie with Reds' boss Arne Slot, who named an unchanged line-up from the one that beat Manchester United 3-0 before the international break, but the Dutchman is unlikely to make the same mistake again.
The Reds have a formidable record against Bournemouth, and the 9-0 victory from 2022 is still fresh in the memory. That thumping is part of a sequence which has seen Liverpool win their last five meetings with the Cherries by an aggregate 20-2, and another Anfield triumph can be expected for the home side here.
However, having conceded first against Milan on Tuesday and against Forest last week, there are suggestions that Liverpool can still be breached, so don't rule out a Bournemouth goal on Saturday.
