The Kop kids hoping to keep Reds on top after Klopp

Liverpool's Carabao Cup final victory against Chelsea showcased their rich array of young talent.

The 1-0 Wembley win saw Jurgen Klopp give game time to a number of the Reds' academy graduates.

Ahead of Liverpool's FA Cup fifth round tie against Southampton, we take a look at the Merseysiders' youth prospects who are currently causing a stir at Anfield.

Bobby Clark

Bobby Clark's ninth appearance in a Liverpool shirt saw him pick up a Carabao Cup winner's medal having been introduced from the bench in the 72nd minute.

It was 19-year-old's shot that won the corner from which Virgil van Dijk headed home the decisive goal.

Midfielder Clark moved to the club's academy in 2022 after spells with Birmingham and Newcastle and is the son of the former Magpies, Sunderland and Fulham ace Lee Clark.

After the final, the youngster said: "That feeling of winning like that, I'm craving it again already. I just want to feel it so many more times in my career."

Jayden Danns

Another Liverpool youngster who comes from a footballing family is Jayden Danns, whose father Neil played for the likes of Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bolton.

The forward came on in the 87th minute against Chelsea and came close to opening the scoring with a headed effort.

It was only his second appearance for the Reds, with the 18-year-old having made his debut in the recent 4-1 win over Luton.

Born in Liverpool, the attacker has represented England at Under-16 and Under-18 level.

James McConnell

James McConnell has made regular appearances from the bench for Liverpool this season and was given his first start in the last round of the FA Cup against Norwich.

Originally an attacking midfielder, he has been switched to operate in a deeper role and was brought on to replace Alexis Mac Allister in the Carabao Cup final.

After the victory against Chelsea, the Liverpool manager singled out the 19-year-old — who was signed from Sunderland in 2019 — for special praise.

Klopp said: "The development of James McConnell is absolutely insane."

Ben Doak

Perhaps the brightest young talent in the Anfield ranks was not involved in the final.

Doak was signed from Celtic in 2022 and has made a total of 10 appearances for Liverpool over the past two seasons.

The 18-year-old right winger has been unavailable since December due to a knee injury, but the Scot is expected to return to fitness before the end of the season.

Klopp has said of him: "Ben's a special boy, really confident. He has something nobody else delivers really — this kind of dribbling, this kind of straightforward bravery."

Conor Bradley

The breakout star from the Liverpool youth ranks this season has been Conor Bradley, who has made the most of Trent Alexander-Arnold's fitness issues.

In just 12 appearances, he has scored once and provided five assists. The Northern Ireland starlet started the Carabao Cup final at right-back, before being pushed further forward late on.

The 20-year-old highlighted his potential while on loan at Bolton last season, scoring seven goals and assisting six times for the Trotters in League One.

Alexander-Arnold's future may be in a midfield position and the emergence of Bradley at right-back could help to facilitate this development.
